Explosion in Downtown LA Injures 3
An explosion in an industrial part of downtown Los Angeles on March 1 injured three people, two of them are in critical condition. The explosion, which occurred just before noon, blew the roof off of the building located at 743 Kohler Street. Neighbors said the space, located in a row of commercial buildings, was used as a fabric store.
The fire that followed the explosion was so intense, fire crews could not initially take offensive measures to battle it. It took about an hour for 140 firefighters to bring the blaze under control. Authorities are still investigating the cause of the blast.
The names of the three men who were injured have not been released. Two of them suffered severe burns and are in critical condition. The third man is said to be in fair condition.
