House Explosion Injures 2 in Lamar County, TX

A house explosion in Lamar County, TX has injured two people who were airlifted to area hospitals.

The explosion, which destroyed the home on County Road 35460 in Chicota near Pat Mayse Lake, took place just after 9 p.m. on Januray 6. Investigators are working to determine its casue.

Neighbors who heard the blast said it sounded like a bomb went off and ran to help. Lamar County Emergency Management Coordinator Quincy Blount told KXII that emergency crews arrived quickly and worked to free a woman who was trapped beneath the debris. A man who was inside the home when the blast occurred was blown outside. Both of them suffered burns and broken bones.
