Sand Beach Twp House Explosion Kills Mother, 69, Injures Daughter, 50

A September 14 house explosion in Sand Beach Twp.,  MI killed one woman, 69, and injured her daughter, 50. An investigation into the cause of the blast, which occurred around 7:30 p.m.,  is ongoing.

Harbor Beach Fire Chief Jason Lermont told local media that firefighters arrived at the house, located at  1467 South Lakeshore in Sand Beach Township to find all four walls of the house blown out and the roof resting on top of a pile of rubble.

Sally Pullen, 69, who was trapped inside the home, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her daughter, Elizabeth Sarnowski, 50, had been ejected from the home by the force of the blast. Emergency responders found her in the yard when they arrived. She was taken to the hospital where she was treated and later released.
