2 Suffer Serious Burns in Delaware City Refinery Explosion

Two men suffered serious burns after an explosion and fire at the Delaware City Refinery on March 11. The men, ages 47 and 31, were airlifted from the scene and are now receiving treatment at the Crozer Burn Center in Upland, Pennsylvania.

The explosion and fire occurred around 1:30 p.m. Black smoke that billowed into the sky could be seen for miles. Investigators have not disclosed any information about when led to the explsoion.

The Delaware City Refinery is owned by Delaware City Refining Corporation,  a subsidiary of PBF Energy.  About 570 employees work at the refinery which has a capacity of 210,000 barrels a day.
