Evergreen Court Fire in Spring Valley, NY – 2 Dead, 13 Injured

One resident and one firefighter died in an early morning fire yesterday at Evergreen Court Home For Adults in Spring Valley, NY. Thirteen other residents were injured and are hospitalized. One of them is in critical condition.

Located about 30 miles north of New York City, Evergreen Court offers assisted living, long-term care and continuing care for older adults. The fire broke out around 1 a.m. Rockland County Volunteer Firefighter Jared Lloyd was one of the first emergency responders on the scene. He died while trying to rescue a resident when a section of the building collapsed.

Staff and firefighters were able to evacuate all 112 residents of the facility which was completely destroyed in the blaze. The residents have been relocated.
