Explosion at Cargill Plant in Kansas Injures 2

An explosion at a Cargill Inc. plant in Dodge City, Kansas on October 17 left two employees with serious burn injuries. The explosion occurred around 3 a.m. in a stand-alone building at the sprawling beef packing plant where up to 5,200 cattle are slaughtered daily.

Some residents told local media that a  loud booming sound woke them up around 3 .m. and learned soon after that some kind of explosion had occurred at the Cargill plant.  The two injured employees were taken to an area hospital for treatment of burns. No information was provided about their condition. An investigation is ongoing.
