After a boat explosion and fire on Lake Catherine, six members of a family from Bauxite, Arkansas is recovering from their injuries. Ashley Drysdale on board the boat when it exploded in the park’s launch area around 1 p.m.on June 22. She suffered second-degree and third-degree burns over 30 percent of her body and remains hospitalized.

She and her husband Jason told katv.com how grateful they are to the first responders and everyone who helped that day. The five other family members who were injured were treated at an area hospital and have been released.

Ashley and Justin told the station that they are experienced boaters and haven’t had any problems with the boat before. But that day, when Ashley’s dad turned the key, it “just blew up.” Now the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission is conducting an investigation of what caused the blast.

A family friend has created a GoFundMe page to help Ashley.
