House Explosion in Blue Sky Manor in Wurtsboro, NY Injures 1

A house explosion in the Blue Sky Manor mobile home park in Wurtsboro, NY left an 81-year-old man with serious burn injuries to over 50 percent of his body. The blast, which occurred just after 12 a.m. on June 23, leveled the home. The local fire chief said five neighbors who rushed to help the man who was trapped beneath the rubble of his home saved his life.

The injured man who suffered first-, second- and third-degree burns was airlifted to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla.

A propane tank is the suspected source of the explosion, but an investigation is still underway.
