House Explosion in Meade County, Ky Injures 4

Four people were injured in an August 13 house explosion in Meade County, KY. Melissa Swartz (53), her son Daniel Swartz (21) his nephew (11) and his stepdaughter (8) were all inside the home located on Old Ekron Road when the blast occurred around noon.

All four were hospitalized. The 11-year-old boy has been released. The girl remains in the ICU at Norton Children’s Hospital. The adults remain hospitalized in the ICU at the University of Louisville Hospital.

A family member told local media that Daniel got everyone outside after the blast. He sustained burn injuries to more than 50 percent of his body.
