House Explosion Near Joliet, IL Injures 3

Three people were injured, one of them critically, when a house exploded in Joliet, IL yesterday. Yvonne and Randy Hadden, who lived in the house located in the 2200-block of East Washington Street, were outside gardening when the blast occurred just before 3:00 p.m. yesterday. A neighbor was injured by flying debris. All three were taken to  Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox.

Neighbors rushed to help after they heard the blast. One said the sound reminded him of his tour in Viet Nam. The house was completely destroyed.

Nicor had a crew at the scene and released a statement that said it is working with investigators to determine the cause of the blast.
