Pompano Beach Shopping Plaza Gas Explosion, One Person Hospitalized

One person was hospitalized with serious burns after a May 10 explosion at a Pompano Beach, FL shopping plaza. Fire officials told local media that they had received a call several days earlier about a gas leak at the shopping center, located in the 1400 block of Atlantic Boulevard, and were able to cap it.

Fire officials did not provide information about the proximity of the two leaks at the shopping plaza. Yesterday, after fire crews arrived at the scene, they evacuated the area and were able to cut off the gas to the property.  An investigation is underway.
