A husband and wife were injured when a propane tank they were hauling in their pickup truck exploded in Las Cruces, NM.  The couple was traveling from Michigan to Arizona towing a trailer of horses and dogs and had parked in an overnight rest spot at the Pilot Travel Center at 2681 W. Amador Ave.

Emergency responders told local media that it appears a generator in the pickup had caught fire and the couple was trying to put out the fire when the propane tank exploded.  Investigators have not determined what caused the generator to catch fire just before 10 p.m. on September 17,  2019.

The man, 63, and woman, 59, both suffered burn injuries. They are receiving treatment at the burn unit of a hospital in Lubbock, TX where they are said to be in critical condition,  according to a report from the La Cruces Sun-News. Officials have found temporary shelter for the animals.
