Two Women Seriously Injured in Silver Township House Explosion

A house explosion and fire in Silver Township seriously injured two women on Tuesday evening. The blast happened just before 10:00 PM at a home in Kettle River, MN located at 4080 Korhonen Road. A 72-year-old woman her 52-year-old female relative both sustained serious injuries in the explosion. The 52-year-old woman told authorities that the house exploded when she turned on the furnace inside the house. Both women were taken to Mercy Hospital in Moose Lake. Later, they were airlifted to Essentia Health in Duluth.
