Update: A worker injured in MarkWest explosion has died. Jeffrey Fisher, of Salem, West Virginia, died of his injuries at UPMC-Mercy hospital in Pittsburgh. He was a contract worker employed by Energy Transportation, LLC, of Bridgeport, West Virginia.

As reported in a previous story, published on December 16, 2018, an explosion at MarkWest Energy injured four employees on December 14, 2018. Two of the injured were taken to West Penn Hospital, and two were taken to UPMC-Mercy Hospital. According to Andria Wymar, of Energy Transportation, the other three workers are recovering from their injuries, but are still in the hospital.

The incident that caused this tragedy happened at the MarkWest Energy natural gas processing plant on Western Avenue in Chartiers Township, Houston, Pennsylvania.

MarkWest issued a statement saying that they were “deeply saddened” by the news.
