Was the House Explosion in Caldwell, TX Caused by a Gas Leak?

Neighbors said that they thought a nearby plant had exploded or a bomb had gone off. At a home across the street, a door was popped open by the force. One neighbor told KBTX that she had smelled gas earlier in the evening.

The cause of the explosion is under investigation.

Officials said that the house was completely destroyed by the explosion. Mr. Barber was inside the house and was rescued by his brother, who pulled him from the wreckage. Mr. Barber had suffered second and third-degree burns.

Second degree burns are painful burns that affect the dermis, the second layer of skin in the human body. Third degree burns are even more severe because they have penetrated to the fat layer underneath the dermis. While second degree burns may leave scars, scars are always left by third degree burns.

Third-Degree Burns

Unfortunately, serious burn injuries like these will cause a great deal of pain. These patients will also need a lot of medical treatment, and for a long period of time. In some cases, the victim will need treatment for the rest of his life.

This kind of medical treatment is very expensive. Burns are challenging injuries because they cover a large surface area. Since the skin is the primary defense against bacteria, this means that burns bring a greater risk of infection.

These physical injuries also bring a great deal of emotional trauma. The emotional injuries are every bit as legitimate, and deserve the same level of intensive treatment.
