Earling Gas Station Explosion Injures 2 in Iowa

Two people were injured in a gas station explosion in Earling, Iowa this morning around 9 a.m. Both were transported to an area hospital where one of them was then airlifted to another hospital for specialty care.

The blast completely destroyed the gas station and blew out the windows of a neighboring home. Residents said the sound of the explosion was heard by people five miles away. Authorities are still investigating the cause of the blast.

Dan Grote, the co-owner of the station, received was treated and released from the hospital hours after the blast. His brother-in-law, Don Bruck, who was airlifted to an Omaha hospital, is expected to be released soon.
