Shawano County House Explosion Kills 2 Men, Seriously Injures 2 Others
A Shawano County house explosion and fire seriously injured four men on Monday. Among those injured included homeowner Steve Verg (62) and Michael Suehring (64), both of whom have sadly died. First responders arrived on the scene off County Road M and Verg Road in Grant, WI at about 4:00 PM. The explosion injured four men, all of whom are members of the Caroline Lions Club. At the time of the explosion, they were meeting about the Caroline Lions Coloroma trail ride, the club’s biggest fundraiser of the year. Verg was airlifted to a hospital in Madison, where he died last Wednesday from his injuries. The other three men suffered third-degree burns on about 50% of their bodies. Suehring passed away last Friday. Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the explosion. The Shawano County Sheriff says the cause appears to be a propane leak or malfunction.
