Hernando County Boat Explosion Injures Four People, Sending Two Teens to Hospital
A boat explosion at a boat ramp in Hernando County injured four people on Saturday, June 27th, sending two teenagers to the hospital. Five family members were on board their pontoon boat, which was docked at 4483 Calienta Street. The explosion happened at about 9:00 AM when one person tried to start the boat’s motor, igniting a fire. Firefighters extinguished flames from the boat’s outer board motor. Four people were injured. Two teenagers, ages 15 and 16, suffered serious burn injuries and were transported to Tampa General Hospital. According to te Hernando County Fire Chief, the explosion appeared to have been caused by an issue with the boat’s engine or fuel line.
Boat Explosion Near Biscayne Bay Seriously Burns One Woman
A boat explosion near Biscayne Bay seriously injured a 30-year-old woman on Saturday, June 27th. Miami Fire Rescue crews found eight passengers stranded on an island that they swam to near Biscayne Bay. A 30-year-old woman suffered serious burn injuries in the explosion. She was transported to Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial. The cause of the explosion is under investigation.
